The Root Cause of Pain
Has a Natural Remedy

Dr. Melissa Gallagher, ND - Naturopath Physician

Hi, my name is Dr. Melissa Gallagher ND, CLP.

In this article I'm going to tell you about the problem of inflammation (the root cause of pain), and I'm going to share with you how to use curcumin (turmeric) to manage it.

There’s a lot of misinformation about turmeric all over the web. How to use it, what it actually does, and even if you should supplement with it... all of which will be clarified for you today in this short article.

AN ANCIENT ROOT

PRIZED HIGHLY FOR ITS MEDICINAL PROPERTIES

The first time I encountered this particular herb was in India in the famed Lalbagh spice market in Mumbai. Heaped high with every herb, root and spice you can imagine (and many that you can’t), one substance was held in higher regard than most all others.

Rumored to help hundreds of different kinds of ailments, every vendor sold this pungent bright yellow powder. Used in curries, stews and broths for centuries, its bitter flavor and amazing color sets it apart from the rest.

It’s turmeric. An ancient root prized highly for its medicinal properties. Why is turmeric such a valued herb? Let’s take a look:

Turmeric is believed to be one of the most potent healing herbs on earth.

As the Indians and other cultures discovered in ancient times, turmeric is a highly potent healing compound.

Turmeric contains a compound called curcumin, and it’s this substance that accounts for turmeric’s powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

As we talked about a moment ago, chronic inflammation is rampant in the USA and elsewhere in the West.

Turmeric contains a compound called curcumin, and it’s this substance that accounts for turmeric’s powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

As we talked about a moment ago, chronic inflammation is rampant in the USA and elsewhere in the West.

That's because most people were raised on a diet high in processed foods laced with artificial chemicals and stripped of much of its nutritional value. And so many people still eat these foods every day!

It's because of toxins in our food, in the air we breathe, and the water we drink. It's because so much of our soil has been depleted, so that even many “healthy” foods don't provide the nutrition and immune-boosting power they once did.

Even for the most health-conscious amongst us, our bodies are literally in a constant fight. From our lungs to our gut, this chronic inflammation can create lasting and sometimes permanent damage to our bodies and immune systems.

Meanwhile curcumin has become one of the most studied natural antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds in history.

6,100+ research studies have been performed on turmeric and the curcumin it contains.

The most recent studies have shown that turmeric and curcumin have properties that set it apart from many other traditional herbal and medicinal plants. Its unique anti-inflammatory action has proven as effective as other medications for treating high inflammation conditions.i-iii

On its own, turmeric is something you definitely need more of in your diet… decreasing chronic inflammation and reducing the chances of long term effects should be on everyone’s short list.

(Ref - Bundy R, Walker AF, Middleton RW, Booth J. Turmeric extract may improve irritable bowel syndrome symptomology in otherwise healthy adults: a pilot study. On its own, turmeric is something you definitely need more of in your diet… decreasing chronic inflammation and reducing the chances of long term effects should be on everyone’s short list.

What if I told you turmeric’s potency can be increased almost exponentially?

Here’s the most interesting thing about this funny little root and the healing compounds inside... When you combine it with some other very common herbs and spices, it actually forms a very powerful “cocktail” that lets your body process it even more quickly and more effectively!

Turmeric, when combined with other potential healing compounds, becomes a “superpower” when it comes to fighting inflammation. Herbs and spices are funny things. Ancient healers had a wealth of knowledge about what plants had powerful healing properties and what combinations gave faster, better, more long-lasting results.

Turmeric is high on the list of ancient healing foods not only for its ability to ease symptoms of inflammation and pain, but also for its ability and willingness to work in combination with a lot of other plants, herbs, and spices.

In India, for example, turmeric is one of the main ingredients in many curries along with ginger, a known digestive and anti-inflammatory.

Another common spice that gets combined with turmeric is black pepper because it contains a substance called piperine. When combined together they make a powerful combination that increases the body’s ability to process the curcumin in turmeric by up to 2000%.

Before you go adding pepper, piperine, or BioPerine® to your turmeric or turmeric supplement, however, you need to be aware of some common side effects.

WARNING:
DO NOT TAKE TURMERIC SUPPLEMENTS
CONTAINING BLACK PEPPER OR PIPERINE.

There’s a popular trend right now in the supplement industry to add black pepper (aka piperine, BioPerine®, etc) to turmeric supplements because they claim it makes it more bioavailable (meaning, it increases your body’s ability to absorb the nutrients).

Which is true, it does increase the bioavailability of turmeric.

But…

There ARE potentially huge risks involved.

Especially if you are taking prescription medications or if you have gastrointestinal issues.

Piperine, the main active chemical in black pepper, greatly affects the enzymes in our digestive tract and it can increase or decrease the effectiveness of prescription medication.

Altering how the body responds to a medication is a big deal because it also enhances the side effects of those medications too.

It’s best to simply avoid taking any supplements with piperine if you take any prescription medications (including antibiotics).

Also, research published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology found that consuming black pepper in excess can damage the mucosal lining of the gut, potentially causing bleeding or other injuries.

So…

What should you do?

GOOD NEWS!

Here’s How To Increase The Bioavailability (Absorption) Of Turmeric Without The Risks Associated With Black Pepper and Piperine

Use fermented turmeric!

Fermentation Increases the Power of Turmeric BETTER Than Black Pepper

As it turns out, by fermenting turmeric, its active constituents can be drawn out and made more potent in a way similar to, and potentially even greater than, black pepper.

Use fermented turmeric!

Fermentation Increases the Power of Turmeric BETTER Than Black Pepper

As it turns out, by fermenting turmeric, its active constituents can be drawn out and made more potent in a way similar to, and potentially even greater than, black pepper.

Here’s another reason why fermented turmeric may be superior to turmeric and black pepper. Besides possibly upsetting a person’s digestive system, black pepper is known to interfere with a process known as glucuronidation that’s necessary for eliminating toxins from the body.ix

Put simply, too much black pepper can cause a buildup of xenoestrogens (harmful chemicals found in plastic and other everyday products) and other toxins that would otherwise be quickly eliminated from the body.x

With simple fermentation, however, there’s little-to-no risk of these types of complications.

That’s because there’s nothing like black pepper getting in the way to block the body’s important detoxification pathways. It’s rather like eating fresh turmeric, which still contains all of the essential oils that help to deliver the herb’s active compounds throughout the body.

Fermentation may even go a step beyond this by further optimizing turmeric’s absorption potential.

Research conducted on rat models found that fermented turmeric is, indeed, the best form of turmeric because it contains the most antioxidant power. Compared to ground turmeric in powder and probiotic forms, fermented turmeric led to substantially higher plasma antioxidant concentrations in test subjects.xi

In terms of how it affects the liver, fermented turmeric was shown in a paper out of South Korea to be powerfully hepatoprotective, meaning it shields the liver from damage.

Not only that, but fermented turmeric was also shown to help improve the liver’s functional detoxification potential xii – as opposed to black pepper-potentiated turmeric that can inhibit natural detoxification.

Fermented turmeric also contains more curcumin (the beneficial compound) than unfermented turmeric, by volume. In addition to improving both its antioxidant and antimicrobial capacity, fermenting turmeric draws out an impressive 11% more curcumin compared to what’s found in raw turmeric.

In terms of how it affects the liver, fermented turmeric was shown in a paper out of South Korea to be powerfully hepatoprotective, meaning it shields the liver from damage.

Not only that, but fermented turmeric was also shown to help improve the liver’s functional detoxification potential [8] – as opposed to black pepper-potentiated turmeric that can inhibit natural detoxification.

Fermentation also makes turmeric 3.1 times more effective at scavenging oxidizing free radicals from the body.xiii

Another area where fermented turmeric has a leg up on both unfermented turmeric and turmeric combined with black pepper is in the area of inflammation.

Research published by The Korean Society for Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology found that fermented turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory, possessing the ability to inhibit pro-inflammatory cytokines much more effectively than any other known form of turmeric.

Fermented turmeric was further shown in this same study to protect against acute anaphylactic, or allergic, reactions.xiv

From an antimicrobial perspective, fermented turmeric shows incredible potential against a wide variety of pathogenic bacteria, including drug-resistant “superbugs.”

Research out of the Middle East found that fermented turmeric provides broad-spectrum protection against harmful bacteria such as Escherichia coli (E. coli), Streptococcus agalactiae, Staphylococcus aureus (Staph), Enterococcus faecalis, Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Klebsiella pneumonia, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.xv

Research out of China found that fermented curcumin can be a powerful weapon against high cholesterol, also known as hyperlipidemia.

While unfermented curcumin showed minimal-to-no benefits during the evaluation, its fermented counterpart significantly reduced serum lipid levels in test models.xvi

Fermented Turmeric

Also Increases Fat Loss

Fermented turmeric also shows promise in fighting another undesirable form of fat: the obesity kind.

Research out of South Korea found that consumption of fermented turmeric can alter the expression of certain genes involved with lipid accumulation, effectively preventing them from communicating to the body that it’s time to pack on extra pounds.xvii

Related research published a year later, also out of South Korea, reiterated these findings while building upon them.

Obese rats fed a high-fat diet not only didn’t gain more weight when also consuming fermented turmeric, but they further lost weight as a result of consuming the herb as part of their daily eating routines.xviii

It’s clear that turmeric is an amazing herb that you should be consuming every day.

Now BEFORE you rush to Amazon or your local store to buy a cheap turmeric supplement… be warned!

Buying the wrong type of turmeric… will have NO effect on your pain.

4 Critical Ingredients

That Must Be In Your

Turmeric Supplement

Critical INGREDIENT #1:

Fermented Organic Turmeric - for healthy inflammation. Fermented turmeric is more easily absorbed by your body without any of the adverse side effects of black pepper or piperine.

Critical INGREDIENT #2:

Vitamin D3 - helps maintain a healthy mood. Stress is a main cause of chronic inflammation, plus 69.5% of all Americans are deficient in Vitamin D.

Critical INGREDIENT #3:

Organic KSM-66 Ashwagandha® - KSM-66 is a patented ashwagandha which is an adaptogen that helps support healthy stress levels. (Again, stress is one of the main causes of chronic inflammation.)

Critical INGREDIENT #4:

Fermented Organic Ginger - Ginger and turmeric are in the same “family” and ginger is great for supporting healthy inflammation levels, PLUS it increases the bioavailability (absorption) of curcumin when taken with turmeric.

Important:
Critical Ingredient to AVOID

Black pepper, piperine, or any variation of piperine that might cause gut discomfort and bleeding or that might have adverse side effects with your prescription medications.

Let’s look at all four of these critical ingredients a little closer.

An In-Depth Look At The 4 Most Powerful
Inflammation Fighters

An In-Depth Look At The
5 Most Powerful
Inflammation Fighters

#1 fermented
organic Turmeric

Earlier we discussed the power of combining turmeric with other herbs, spices, and vitamins. And that’s essential to getting the most out of turmeric’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, but that’s not the whole picture

Not by a long shot. You see turmeric, in particular, needs a “delivery system” to get it into your body in the dosage you need to make a real difference.

Other supplement companies have tried unsuccessfully to unlock turmeric’s true potential but have always lacked that one key element to opening the vault.

We’ve found the key... and we’re using it to bring the full power of turmeric into this supplement.

We’re using the power of... fermentation. And some very exclusive fermentation processes at that!

Fermentation has been around for thousands of years...

And the health benefits of eating fermented foods are incredibly well documented.

And science has shown over time that eating fermented foods is just downright healthy for the human body, helping maintain a healthy gut and digestive system.

Fermented foods like kimchi, natto and apple cider vinegar are powerhouses of health filled with healing enzymes that are literally amplified by the fermentation process itself.

While eating raw food will help get many more nutrients into your body than eating cooked food, this middle ground of fermentation actually works with your body to pull out even more nutrients than either raw or cooked.

Not only that, fermented food is unique in that the process itself creates an entirely new set of nutrients, and medically important phytocompounds, that did not exist before the fermentation process.

#2 Vitamin D3

Vitamin D3 is a well-known vitamin with a host of health benefits.

It’s been shown to help maintain a healthy mood, maintain bone health, decrease risk of cancer and dementia, lower risk of cardiovascular disease and a lot more.

The startling thing is this… Research estimates that around 75% of American adults and teens are deficient in vitamin D!xix

Worse yet, almost 15% are severely deficient! Those numbers are shocking for sure but scientists have linked vitamin D deficiency to an amazing amount of deaths in the U.S. alone, making up almost 13% of U.S. deaths!

That’s a staggering number.

So putting a healthy dose of vitamin D3 into a turmeric supplement is kind of a no brainer.

Okay, on to the next critical ingredient.

#3 KSM-66 Organic Ashwagandha®
(Indian Ginseng)

Ashwagandha’s superpower is that it is an adaptogen.

Adaptogens are non-toxic therapies that normalize our bodily functions – both physical and mental – that are thrown out of balance when we are exposed to chronic, uncontrolled stress. They do so by correcting imbalances in the neuroendocrine and immune systems.

In short, adaptogens enhance our ability to cope with stress.

There are more than 35 natural compounds in ashwagandha including alkaloids, steroidal lactones, saponins, and withanolides. These compounds have been shown to have anti-stress activity in multiple laboratory models of chronic stress and in some human studies as well.xx-xxiv

Additionally, ashwagandha extracts as well as specific bioactive compounds present in this plant – primarily in the roots – have been shown to help:

  • counter pain and joint swelling associated with arthritis
  • boost various components of the immune system
  • protect the brain and nervous system
  • slow down or even kill abnormal cells
  • enhance both male and female sexual desire and function

Now, here’s the interesting thing when it comes to “studies” and different herbs.

ATTENTION: DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!

While there’s hundreds of studies about ashwagandha, who’s to say the ashwagandha in the supplement on the store shelf is of the same quality as what was used in the study?

The nutritional value of earth grown botanicals, like ashwagandha, can vary greatly based on where they’re grown, the quality of the soil, whether or not they’re organic, and many other variables.

This is why it’s so important to use organic patented botanicals whenever you can.

Not only is quality guaranteed, but they have clinical studies to “back up” their claims.

You see, most supplement companies spend more money on “hype marketing and advertising” than they do on actually developing a good quality supplement.

So…

Make sure you know that when you’re shopping on Amazon or in your store and you see two ashwagandha supplements next to each other and one is $10 more than the other, it’s likely that the cheaper one is a low quality, low grade, untested ashwagandha.

As with most things in life, you get what you pay for.

Okay, let’s move on to the next critical ingredient.

#4 fermented
organic Ginger

Ginger and turmeric are two of the most extensively studied ingredients in herbal medicine.

Interestingly, both have been used for centuries to treat a variety of ailments, ranging from migraines to chronic inflammation and fatigue.

Both have also been used to help relieve pain, decrease nausea, and enhance immune function to help protect against illness and infection.

Ginger and turmeric have powerful anti-inflammatory properties, which could help decrease pain and protect against disease.

One study in 120 people with osteoarthritis found that taking 1 gram of ginger extract per day for 3 months effectively reduced inflammation and decreased levels of nitric oxide, a molecule that plays a key role in the inflammatory process.xxv

Similarly, a review of 9 studies showed that taking 1-3 grams of ginger per day for 6-12 weeks decreased levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), an inflammatory marker.xxvi

Ginger has also been shown to decrease chronic pain associated with arthritis, along with several other conditions.

For example, one 5-day study in 120 women noted that taking 500 mg of ginger root powder 3 times daily reduced the intensity and duration of menstrual pain.xxvii

Another study in 74 people found that taking 2 grams of ginger for 11 days significantly reduced muscle pain caused by exercise.xxviii

And last but not least, ginger helps your body absorb turmeric/curcumin.

Once again, if you’re looking to reduce pain, inflammation, etc, your turmeric supplement should have fermented organic ginger in it too.

Okay, next…

Avoid Black Pepper or Piperine

I already wrote a lot about this earlier in this article, but I just wanted to reiterate that you can get all the benefits of an increased absorption of curcumin without the harmful side effects of black pepper or piperine, simply by using a fermented organic turmeric.

As you’ll see in my list above, every ingredient is organic.

This is often overlooked but so vitally important.

Here’s why…

Organic Ingredients Matter MORE
When It Comes To Supplements

Not a lot of supplement companies talk about organic ingredients or the importance of organic ingredients.

Do you know why?

Because organic ingredients are a lot more expensive! (but they’re worth it)

As I’ve discussed before, 99% of supplement companies spend all their money on “over-hyped” marketing, advertising, and promises, rather than spending money on actually creating a good product.

Well…

I’m here to tell you the truth when it comes to organic ingredients.

Organic supplement ingredients are critical to your health and wellbeing (almost more than consuming organic foods - more on that in a second).

Here’s why…

If the botanical used in a supplement is NOT organic…

Then it’s been sprayed with poisons like pesticides, insecticides, and herbicides (like glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, a potent ‘weed killer’).

(Glyphosate is the active ingredient Monsanto uses in Roundup and has recently lost multi-million dollar lawsuits connecting glyphosate to cancer. This stuff is highly poisonous.)

Organic is such a big deal because once a botanical is harvested, it is then dried and concentrated down to a very potent dose.

And if it is NOT organic, then you’re getting HIGH CONCENTRATIONS OF POISONS.

So, the supplement that you’re taking to get “healthier” is actually packed full of pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, and other poisons.

And can you guess what happens to your gut microbiome (the bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other microscopic living things in your gut) when you ingest pesticides, insecticides, and herbicides like glyphosate?

Exactly

It kills all of it.

I won’t go too deep into this subject, but real quick…

Most of the microbes in your intestines are found in a "pocket" of your large intestine called the cecum, and they are referred to as the gut microbiome.

Although many different types of microbes live inside you, bacteria are the most studied.

In fact, there are more bacterial cells in your body than human cells. There are roughly 40 trillion bacterial cells in your body and only 30 trillion human cells.

That means you are more bacteria than human.

What's more, there are up to 1,000 species of bacteria in the human gut microbiome, and each of them plays a different role in your body.

Most of them are extremely important for your health.

Altogether, these microbes may weigh as much as 2–5 pounds (1–2 kg), which is roughly the weight of your brain.

Together, they function as an extra organ in your body and play a huge role in your health.

This is why eating organic foods and supplements matters so much.

If it’s not organic, then it’s likely been sprayed with poisons that are damaging your microbiome.

ANOTHER REASON Organic Supplements Might Be
More Important Than Eating Organic Foods

For the record, I think that both eating organic foods and taking organic supplements are essential for optimum health.

And…

I actually think organic supplement ingredients might be even more important than eating organic food for the simple fact that supplements are in a capsule and get delivered directly to your gut.

At least with organic foods, you can wash them off and try to remove as much of the poison as possible, but with supplements, you’re just getting a high dose of poison delivered on a silver platter right to your gut.

Not good!

Also…

Organic means no GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms).

A lot of times plants are genetically modified so that they are resistant to herbicides and weed killers like Roundup (glyphosate).

Meaning, an herbicide would normally kill a plant, but big companies have found ways to genetically alter certain plants to make them resistant to glyphosate and other weed killers.

This way they can spray absurd amounts of “weed killer” directly on their crops and fields and it only kills the unwanted plants/weeds but not their genetically modified crop.

So, regardless of where you land on the GMO debate, we can all agree that massive amounts of poison sprayed on a botanical prior to ingesting it can’t be good for us.

Right?

Right.

Okay, so now that we’re all on the same page about the 5 critical ORGANIC ingredients that must be in your turmeric supplement…

Where can you get such a complete and powerful turmeric supplement?

Not all turmeric is created equally. Maximizing the natural potency of turmeric is critical for optimal effect.

The fermentation process that Organixx delivers with their turmeric is unmatched in the nutraceutical and supplement world.

When you ferment a food like turmeric you capture both the benefits of the plant itself and the benefits of healthy probiotic dense bacteria.

Essentially that combo makes fermented turmeric a double threat for effectively addressing systemic inflammation, gut disorders as well as imbalances in bacterial levels throughout the entire body.

The fermentation process of turmeric in an adaptogenic forward manner makes the Organixx Turmeric 3D a triple threat by calming the body’s natural stress response system.

Fermented Turmeric is an ancient Ayurvedic tradition that has helped detoxify the liver and promote liver functionality.

I often recommend fermented turmeric for my patients who experience high cholesterol levels, elevated triglycerides, elevated liver enzymes, imbalances in thyroid levels (T3/T4), constipation and hormonal imbalances. Clinical studies (10.1186/1472-6882-13-58) have shown that liver is a key organ that can benefit from consuming turmeric and its bioactive properties daily.

Dr. Melissa Gallagher, ND, CLT

Organixx’s Turmeric 3D is unlike any other turmeric supplement available.

Sure… there are other so-called turmeric supplements on the market. In fact, quite a few.

Turmeric is one of the most researched plants in history and for good reason; its potential healing properties are second to none.

But none of the others come close to Turmeric 3D’s powerful 4-in-1 formula.

Some of them just isolate the compound curcumin, when research clearly shows that whole turmeric is more readily available to your body.

Some of them use tons of fillers, preservatives, or piperine.

Each and every one of them fall tragically short of Turmeric 3D and there’s a simple reason why...

They cut corners and we simply refuse to.

Our unique fermentation process unleashes the true potential for turmeric and the other compounds in turmeric. As mentioned, fermentation and its health benefits have been known for centuries.

It actually starts to break down plants, vitamins, and herbs and releases specific phytochemicals that actually magnify the benefits of the herb and plants being used. This is specifically true of anti-inflammatory and antioxidant substances.

Inside Turmeric 3D there are three very specific blends of fermented turmeric... All of them are fermented with different processes to bring out their latent potency.

PLUS…

We’ve added clinically proven patented ingredients like KSM-66 Organic Ashwagandha®. There’s simply nothing like Turmeric 3D on the market today and I guarantee you’ll feel the difference. (See our industry-first, 1-year, 100% money back guarantee below).

The best turmeric on the market.

The best for turmeric out there. Great for treating cancer. I also use it on my 10 yr. old dog as a tumor preventative. I mix it with coconut oil and he loves it!

wonderful product

I feel like I need to take it longer, I've had a couple days that were rough, but I believe I know why. Other than that, the swelling in my knee many days has decreased to a level I haven't experienced in years.

Dina

Good product

Reason for not rating 5 stars is, I have done few other things to help my lower back pain (more exercises, morning stretches, less sedentary lifestyle). But since started to take this product as instructed I have experienced much relief without anti-inflamnatory prescription meds. Enough to encourage me to order more. I think it’s a good product. Give it a chance!
